You don’t have to always be ‘on the rise’
I’m sure there’s an inspiring, flowery quote about rising from the ashes that I could have paired with this photo… 🌼
Instead I wanna talk about the fact that you don’t always have to be ‘on the rise’
This app, and social media in general, can do a really great job of convincing us of some really untrue things…
It can convince us that we constantly need to be talking & thinking about what’s ‘coming next’ or building anticipation for a new launch or announcement...
It can convince us that we need to always have a life-changing revelation or sage piece of advice in order to have something worth sharing…
It can convince us that we constantly have to be on an upward trajectory of likes, followers, clients, income, etc, in order to be seen as successful or valued or worthy...
And the reality is: it’s all bullshit.
You don’t have to always be a phoenix, rising from the ashes of some great turmoil.
You don’t have to always be having the best day, every day.
You don’t have to constantly be ‘creating content’ or hyping up your offerings in order to show up.
You don’t have to constantly be convincing or teaching or impressing anyone
You can be sitting in an endless series of shitty, heavy, hard days with no pretty, tidy lesson to tie it all up in.
You can go weeks without posting at all or show up in your stories & feed as your raw, ugly, messy self.
Your life can be made up of low moments, a trajectory that goes all over the map, or any variation at all...
And it’s all valid. It’s all valued. 🧚🏼♀️
Social media can and will convince us of alllll kinds of silly things about ourselves and the world around us, primarily that we can’t or shouldn’t show up completely and fully as ourselves (and trust me, I’m not immune to falling for the bullshit either!)
But the truth is so much more powerful and badass:
You get to show up in this space (and EVERY space, digital or not) every single day 100% exactly as you are.
In all of your moods, moments, and messes
Cause I care way more about the truth of the human behind the screen (YOU) than I do about any of the weird social media stuff
