I’ve missed out on lots of opportunities

I’ve missed out on lots of opportunities because I didn’t use the right buzzwords or spend time crafting perfect content🐝
I haven't focused on marketing numbers or 'growing my audience'
But I have always done my best to show up on social media as *me*

Whether it's scrolling mindlessly through the stories & lives of others or getting lost in the haze of curated photos & perfectly poetic captions
It can be easy to convince ourselves that we have to show up on social media in a certain way
Or that we have to 'create content' & commodify ourselves, our experiences & our emotions in order to show up online

As my friend @aubreyyrenee so aptly put: your health & happiness is worth so much more than anything you may feel you're gaining from social media

If being in these spaces leaves you feeling full of anxiety, unable to slow down, unable to come back to your breath…
It's worth taking time to stop & notice that.
Truly give yourself a moment to pause after you finish scrolling - how's your heart rate, how's your breath, how is your belly feeling, how about your shoulders?

It's not about one way being right or wrong
And I'm definitely not trying to demonize social media
I'm reminding us both that we get to choose how we show up & interact with these spaces

If being online is detrimental to your well-being, you have everyone right to honor yourself by setting boundaries 🙅🏽‍♀️
If it means unfollowing certain accounts - do it
If it means deleting the app from your phone for a few days - do it
If it means you have to get creative & find other ways to market & connect with folx - do it

You don't need to be 'plugged in' to every story, every post, every topic, all.the.time
Especially not at your own expense, my friend.

If loving yourself up these days looks like setting a few more boundaries around social media, I see you

Whatever circle you may need to draw around yourself in order to prioritize your own well-being, I hope you honor those boundaries without guilt or shame

You and your well-being come first & that's all there is to it 👑
