Video Magick Feature - MB Muscle Therapy
I was hired for my first professional video piece in 2016 📽️
At that point, I was 10 years into my photography business and feeling the itch to expand my creativity through videography. I was also feeling REALLY friggin’ intimidated and out of my element.
When I sent over the final video piece, I was so proud and so excited and looking forward to adding video to my service offerings.
Then imposter syndrome swooped in like the demon it is and I got way too in my head. I started to doubt my skills and abilities, I picked apart every second of that video, and I told myself that if it wasn’t perfect, I shouldn’t be offering it.
Looking back at it now, I can laugh at myself for thinking the first iteration of anything needs to be ‘perfect’. I can recognize that everyone, even the ‘professionals’ deserve the grace and permission to be beginners again. I can own up to being my own worst critic. And I know that just because something isn’t the best-of-the-best (at least in my eyes), doesn’t mean that it’s not still beautiful and full of magick.
Since creating that first client video piece over 6 years ago, I’ve worked hard behind-the-scenes to continue to push myself, learn more, grow my skillset and to get out of my own head (and out of my own way).
Earlier this year I ‘soft-launched’ my video services to existing clients and honestly…I’m really fucking proud of every single video piece I’ve produced so far this year.
One of my fears in expanding into video has been that I wouldn’t be able to properly translate the magick I see and feel in images into motion. Now I realize that video gives us a completely different way to document and capture your magick and for us to get creative and play together.
