Behind the Session - Therapist Brand Photoshoot

Lena and I connected through Steph at 3 Bridges Yoga, and I instantly knew we would get along. From the intention in her original email to her background as a trauma-informed licensed therapist and clinical social worker, I instantly resonated with her soul mission as a human and in her business.

There’s an implication with therapiy and therapists that it’s all very serious business and I find that is so often reflected in brand shoots for therapists. Scroll through Pinterest and it feels like so many of the ‘inspiration’ photos feel stiff, sterile, and way too serious.

I wanted Lena’s images to connect to what she did and how she helps people, but in a way that felt natural, warm and alive. We wanted to convey her depth of knowledge and expertise in her field, while also showcasing her warm, down-to-earth personality. It was also important for us to show the variety of modalities and resources that she brings into her practice (both traditional and non-traditional). We brought in aspects from both her professional and personal life to help create scenes and vignettes that help instantly communicate that she’s a therapist. And ultimately, aim to immediately connect with her people by communicating the kind of experience and energy she provides.

Bringing her brand to life was an absolute dream come true.

As a psychotherapist in private practice, Lena worked with a developer on her new website and needed updated brand images to help authentically communicate her heart and mission and help her draw in her dream clientele.

We chose the Valentine Room studio in Dover, NH as the backdrop for our session, and there's a reason it's one of my favorite studio spaces to create in. It provides us with the perfect almost blank canvas to co-create in, it has absolutely gorgeous lighting, and it's located in downtown Dover, which is the sweetest little town.

On our brainstorming call, Lena and I really dialed in her creative vision and honed in on exactly what makes her unique in her field. Based on our chat, I compiled a detailed session plan that included a breakdown of our two-hour session timeline, inspiration images, suggested prop list, and more. I provided her with a list of hair and makeup artists (at her request) to help her feel her best for our time together, and we arrived on the day of the feeling completely session prepared and ready to drop into the magick.

I couldn't be more proud of the images Lena and I co-created for her brand and business. Her unique approach and heart-centered mission shine so brightly in every single image.

With updated images, Lena's web developer built a stunning new site that instantly connects you with her and her approach. In Lena’s own words:

"I can't thank you enough! The images you took seamlessly integrated into my vision for the site. Thank you for your magick!"
