Behind the Session - Sarah’s Brand Photoshoot

I’ve had the honor of collaborating with Sarah numerous times and every single time, it feels like the highest honor to get to capture her magick.

Sarah is a yoga teacher and international retreat host and also one of the kindest, most devoted people I know. While her home base is in Seacoast New Hampshire, Sarah can often be found traveling to the most incredible places all over the world leading her retreats.

Earlier this year, she was home for a brief window and asked to book a brand session while she was home. Of course, I immediately said yes and started dreaming up the possibilities.

Because Sarah and I have worked together so many times, it always feels effortless for us to drop right into the creative energy of the moment. We chatted a bit before the day arrived and decided to split our session between some portraits and lifestyle brand images of Sarah. For the second part of the shoot, I would stay for the first ten minutes or so of a local yoga class she was leading.

Because Sarah spends so much of her time traveling and leading yoga retreats, she has an online space where students can virtually take class with her any time they way. Sarah wanted to be sure to have some images to showcase and promote her online platform, as well as images of her teaching and leading, portraits and poses in various yoga shapes. We also played with different outfits and colours.

We were able to utilize so many pockets of the building (both inside and out) to give us plenty of variety in our settings and background.

Once the class started, I made sure to position myself so I could capture Sarah interacting with students, setting up for class, and the first few minutes of teaching.

I love all of the variety we were able to capture during our session, and I love that we followed Sarah’s idea to capture the beginning of her class as part of our photoshoot. It adds another layer of impact to be able to see her in action and feel the devotion she has to her students.

It is always a joy to create with Sarah and this shoot was no exception. I am in love with the images we created together.
