Behind the Session - Salon and Spa Brand Photo + Video shoot
I met Leah in Peru while capturing retreat magick there, and we instantly connected. When she reached out to me about a social media and brand refresh for her salon, I was over the moon. Leah is the owner of Beautique, the award-winning salon in Newburyport, Massachusetts which offers a variety of health and wellness services and she wanted photo and video that captured the variety and quality of their offerings. She came prepared with a very clear creative vision and together with their team…
We nailed it.
Each brand session is an opportunity to try and think outside of the box when it comes to showcasing the unique magick of each business. Of course, the ‘standard’ shots are always a must, but it always feels vital to me to really hone in on what sets each business and/or practitioner apart in their field.
Beautique is known for having the best-of-the-best when it comes to staff and services. From the products to the education and intention, the attention to detail is felt in every single aspect of the salon. It was so important to me to capture that, as well as the luxe feeling of the salon space and service rooms.
We spent time in every part of the salon, working with every practitioner to capture their offerings in both photo and video form.
Our focus for the videos was specifically around creating clips that Leah could use to create custom social media content. Video Magick was the perfect fit, because it gave us plenty of time to capture the entire staff (including headshots) and all the services in both photo and video form, without having to rush or miss anything. It also includes a robust clip library that Leah can pull from for years to come to be able to create her own high-quality social media content for Beautique.
Leah’s creative vision for the videos in particular was to create a dark, moody atmosphere where the services really felt like they were in the spotlight. It took a little finagling (thanks to every photographer’s best friend, LED lighting 🙃), but the final shots are some of my favorite work I’ve ever created. It was definitely a bit outside of my comfort zone, but I always love to push myself when I can. And I have to admit, it feels pretty gratifying when the results turn out like this.
Working with Leah and her team was such a dream. This Video Magick Brand project for Beautique was a true co-creation and I am so proud of the final images and videos we captured.
Newburyport friends and family, if you haven’t already been to Beautique, it’s a must!
