Behind the Session - Jess

Jess and I connected through Instagram (ah, the positive power of social media!) and I knew right away that we were going to create something magickal together. When planning her session, she mentioned that she wanted to incorporate her dance and movement background and above anything, she wanted the images to truly feel like her.

On the day of our session, Jess and I met at sunrise on a cloudy, grey day. While you may assume less-than-ideal weather conditions would disappoint, I like the added challenge . Plus there’s just something about the moodiness of a cloudy day that adds its own energy to the session.

Thanks to the weather and the fact that it was around 6am, Jess and I had the beach totally to ourselves. We put on some music and really took our time flowing through the session, creating and holding space for all parts of Jess to show up, take center stage for a bit, and express whatever needed to come through. This session truly felt slow and sweet, like honey on a summer day.

This session and these images are such a powerful reminder to me that it doesn’t always have to be over-the-top creative or flashy or fast-paced in order to be beautiful and moving. Sometimes simple and slow is where the magick lives. I look at these images of Jess and every time I see them, I am moved on a soul-level by what we created. I can feel the power, beauty and magick that is Jess is each of these images.

This session with Jess will forever hold a special place in my heart. I know I say it often, but it’s on repeat because it’s true: It is my highest honor to witness someone in this way and I am so grateful every single time I get to hold this space.

“I AM IN LOVE!”

Thank you so, so, so much for making this experience so beautiful! I’m totally blow away and I can’t wait to post these everywhere. I am over the moon!

You inspired a piece I’m writing about my experience getting in front of the camera, and my feelings when looking at the pictures of myself. Healing, processing, some pain and a lot of love. Grateful for you. these images and this experience.”
